York Archaeology is a self-funded educational Charity and a leading professional archaeological organisation operating throughout the UK. Founded in 1972, we have a reputation for delivering high quality investigation and research for a broad range of clients and partners.

Through public, community and educational projects and events, along with our world-class visitor attractions, we engage with over 1.2 million people each year from our offices in York, Sheffield and Nottingham.

York Archaeology attractions help bring history to life in new and exciting ways across the city of York. These include the world-famous JORVIK Viking Centre, York’s hidden gem Barley Hall, and DIG.

They are also home to the largest Viking festival in Europe, the annual JORVIK Viking Festival.
